Basil Hayden’s Popsicle Cocktail Recipes
Whenever people say they love summer, you can usually find them with with an ice-cold drink in their hand, or something else similarly refreshing, like a popsicle, all while laying out by the pool.
Everyone has a different idea about what a popsicle should be. Ours is something simple, light, refreshing, and mildly intoxicating — that’s why we went on the hunt for some popsicle cocktail recipes.
Created by Los Angeles bartender Rob Floyd, these boozy treats from Basil Hayden’s are crazy delicious and made from the finest Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey you may ever taste. And for the most part, they're not even that bad for you!
Popsicles are low-risk and high-reward. These just happen to be "cocktails in popsicle form," which is a concept we can all get behind.
Despite the fact that summer will soon come to an end, you have NO excuse not to make a few of these wonderfully creative flavored frozen treats. Just make sure to keep ’em away from the kiddies.
Basil Hayden's® Spiced Chocolate Independence
Ingredients
- 2 parts Basil Hayden's® Bourbon
- 16 parts Low Fat Milk
- 1 ½ parts Unsweetened Chocolate
- 1 ½ parts Sugar
- 1 bar of Dark Chocolate (4 oz bar)
- 4-5 dashes of Chipotle Chili Pepper
How to Make It
- In a saucepan over low heat, combine milk, unsweetened chocolate, sugar and dark chocolate
- Warm, and stir continuously until all ingredients are combined
- (Do not boil)
- Remove from heat and let cool
- Add bourbon and chipotle chili pepper and stir
- Add to popsicle mold and freeze
Basil Hayden's® Berry American
Ingredients
- 7 parts Basil Hayden's® Bourbon
- 1 ½ parts Elderflower Syrup
- 2 parts Water
- 2 parts Fresh Lime Juice
- 4-5 Strawberries, medium size
- 12 Blueberries
How to Make It
- Poke a hole in each blueberry and soak in 4 parts of bourbon for 30 minutes
- Set aside
- Add strawberries to cocktail shaker and muddle
- Then take fresh lime juice, Elderflower syrup, remaining bourbon and water to the cocktail shaker
- Give the shaker a good hard jiggle
- Add mixture to the popsicle molds
- Place three bourbon-soaked blueberries to each mold and freeze
